Belgian police have raided the headquarters of the EU’s diplomatic service (EEAS) in Brussels, as well as the College of Europe in Bruges, as part of a widening fraud investigation led by the European Public Prosecutor’s Office.<br />Three suspects have been detained amid “strong suspicions” of fraud linked to EU-funded training programmes for junior diplomats. The European Commission confirmed the raids but said it could not provide further details due to the ongoing investigation.<br />The probe focuses on alleged irregularities in a tender awarded during the 2021–2022 mandate for a nine-month EU diplomatic training programme.
